Every week, my boys look forward to Friday night. That is because at our house, Friday nights are better know as "Friday Night Daddy Night". It started more than a year ago, but as "Friday Night Movie Night". They rarely made it through a movie - they always ended up doing something more active. So, now the boys get to pick what they are going to do with dad - play games, dance, sing songs, wrestle, play wii, play trains, play "talking cars" (from the movie Cars), etc. They love it. And of course, they always have popcorn. Mommy joins them sometimes - but usually it is a good time for me to run a few errands or get things done around the house.
Then on Saturday, since Ed didn't have school (he is almost done with his Executive MBA - he has school all day Friday one week and then all day Saturday the next week), and the sun was actually out in the morning (of course, then it turned to rain for a minute and then snow), the boys went out and played basketball on the part of our basketball court that wasn't still covered in snow.

Looks like a fun weekend! We do a similar thing on Friday nights called "movie-theater night" where the kids get to pick their favorite movie, eat popcorn (in the playroom--lucky treat) and dim the lights. It's a great tradition. Seems like your version has worked out great for you guys also!
