Matthew - The Snowball

In Kindergarten, they have to be able to tell a story (that has a beginning, middle, and end - which I thought all stories had), in front of their class, with visual aids, and they can't read it.  Matthew got to tell his story yesterday and I was lucky enough to be able to go and watch him.  And I must say he did a FABULOUS job!  He remembered the whole story and spoke loud enough so everyone could hear.  He didn't do a great job of holding the pictures for his class to see (as his teacher pointed out), but otherwise, he did a great job!  Way to go Matthew!

Here is the story he told.  It is called, The Snowball.

I saw a snowball on a hill.
It rolled along and picked up Bill.
It rolled along with Bill inside.
It rolled along and picked up Clyde.
What a ride!
I saw a snowball with four feet.
It rolled along and picked up Pete.
It rolled him up as quick as that.
It rolled along and picked up Pat,
and her hat!
I saw a snowball roll past Lee.
It rolled along and picked up ME!
It rolled, it bounced, it dipped, it dashed.
It rolled along until it smashed!
The end.

How HUGE am I? Really HUGE!

Yes - I know it is a little (lot) shocking - but I have had several requests to see me pregnant with twins!  I am huge and there is no end in sight since I have almost 11 weeks left just to get to 38 weeks!  I always get really big but I have already passed how big I was when I delivered all 4 of my boys (and I gained 70+ pounds with Gavin & Brecken).  So, hopefully, these babies are going to be a good size.  That skirt I have on in the pictures always fits to the end of my pregnancy, but I think yesterday was the last day I will wear it.  And most of my shoes don't fit (it needs to stop snowing so I can wear sandals and flips everyday).  I just am not a cute pregnant person - I get big all over.  Oh well!  There isn't anything I can do about it.  Oh, and those pictures aren't even a total side view - I should have turned more - but you get the idea.  It was funny - when Ed was taking the pictures, I found myself trying to suck in my stomach every time - pretty sure that wasn't going to help!

And please don't feel like you need to say I look good - I don't and it is okay because I am pregnant.  And I hate when people say that it is just my belly that is bigger.  Seriously, if that is all that is bigger, I am in trouble.  I could not handle it if I always was this big.  That is why I added the pictures of me from right before I got pregnant this time - I really am normally much smaller (not small but definitely smaller).  But enough complaining - I am very happy to be having twins, not loving being pregnant, but I am excited for the end result - TWO sweet babies!  They will make all of this totally worth it!

Gavin Playing Itty Bitty Ball

Gavin was so happy that he finally was getting to do something - especially Itty Bitty Ball.  He got to play 5 different sports - baseball, basketball, football, soccer, & volleyball.  I didn't get any good pictures of volleyball so there isn't a page for that.  And the last day was playing games for all the different sports - and I didn't get any good pictures of that either.  The bleachers were horrible for me, but it was worth it - he had a fabulous time!  You can see it in his face that he LOVED it!

Brecken Dancing

Brecken is hilarious!  He LOVES to dance.  Anytime he hears music, he will dance.  But especially when he hears the music from Madagascar or Madagascar 2.  As soon as I even turn the DVD player on, he is in front of the TV ready to dance as soon as the music starts.  So here is a little clip of Brecken dancing.  There is a little jump in the clip because Ed put the camera on me so I had to cut that part out.  And of course, Brecken has his "pacifier" (sippy cup) in his mouth the whole time and his teddy/blanket in his hand - those are his 2 favorite things that he is rarely without.  And yes, his shirt is soaking wet - he drools a lot these days.
Enjoy his little dance!  It definitely makes me smile!

Visit to the Dentist for Dallin

What fun!  Last year Dallin had to have two teeth extracted (one wasn't coming in due to the fact that it had CRAZY crooked roots).  Since then, the molar behind the crazy root tooth has come in crooked and even twisted making it so there is NOT room for the permanent tooth.  So, last week Dallin had to get a rubber band placed between 2 of his teeth on the right to make room for a metal ring.  Today I took him in for the metal rings.

All I have to say is thanks heavens for laughing gas.  There is no way they would have gotten even one ring on his tooth, much less two rings AND taken an impression!  It took forever to find a ring that fit his teeth correctly - and even then, they had to use the biggest ones (and they weren't totally convinced they were big enough).  So those big metal things in the pictures above, will stay in his mouth for the next while.  Luckily, you could tell the gas was really working - all of a sudden Dallin's arms would just start floating in the air.  And when they took the impression (which they had to do twice since the first one didn't work), he actually laughed out loud.  I wanted to throw up just watching them take an impression of his mouth - I am so glad he was fine with it.

Unfortunately, this afternoon, while Dallin was feeling around his mouth with his tongue, one of the rings came out.  So back to the dentist we went.  But it was fast and he didn't even need the laughing gas.  Hopefully we won't have to go back to the dentist until we go next week to get the wire put in.  What fun!

26 Week Ultrasound

I am 26 weeks TODAY!!!!!  Which means AT MOST, I have 12 weeks left (or 84 days - the counter on the side counts down to my actual due date - I guess I should change that).  Yesterday I went to the doctor and had another ultrasound (a plus of being pregnant with twins).  It was so much fun to see how much they have changed.  And it was great to know that one is still a girl and one is still a boy (my fear has been that they would tell me the girl really is a boy - which would have been fine 6 weeks ago but not now that half the nursery is pink).

Their faces, well, actually just the little girl's face (baby boy would not look up so we could see him) is so much more filled out than 6 weeks ago.  And their legs are so defined - it was amazing.  The girl is all stretched out and the little guy is all balled up.  He is kicking her in the bum and she is kicking him in the head - poor little guy!  But they both looked GREAT and are about the same size (girl: 2 lbs 1 oz, boy: 2 lbs 4 oz).

Now I am off to the doctor for my next check-up.  I'm sure he is going to tell me to really take it easy (which I am already doing) to help the babies stay the same size (apparently around 28 weeks, one twin decides to be bigger than the other and you DON'T want that).  Hopefully I pass my glucose test today - I just drank that really yummy (yucky) orange drink!

Matthew is in LOVE!

Matthew came home from school today all goofy (even more goofy than normal).  Finally I got him to tell my why he was being so silly and this is what he said,

"I am kind of in love with a girl!"

What does that mean to a 5 year old?  Of course I had to try to get more out of him.  This is what he told me,

"I am in love with Allie.  She has been my special friend 3 times and today she told me 'it feels like I'm in love with you'.  And I thought in my head, why am I in love with her?"

"She is my best friend now.  But I don't know where she lives."

I asked if he played with her at recess and he said,

"No, I just play with other guys."

Wow - my little guy's first little crush (besides my cousin "Big Gavin's" wife Amanda)!  I did find his class picture so I could see what she looks like - and she looks a lot like Big Gavin's Amanda - what a shocker!  I told Matthew that she was a cutie pie and he said, "Yep!"  My Gavin was funny and said, "Aaaaaaa, I don't want her to see me (referring to her picture) cause then she will be in love with me!"  So silly!

Fun Toy Room

I have been so busy trying to get caught up on scrapbooking (working on 2007) that I haven't blogged anything the last few days (that and not much happens when you sit on the couch all day).  So, when I came across these pictures the other day, I thought I would blog them.

The toy room has been done for years - but I just love it and so do the boys.  I really like it back in these pictures.  They have inspired me to TRY to get down to the basement to clean it out and make it look nice and neat again (and somehow figure out how to make room for "girl" toys).  I love the shelves & bins from IKEA.  I put pictures on each bin of what belongs in them (and since the pictures I have added vinyl to each bin - thanks to my SIL who has a vinyl business, the Letter Cafe) and it is so easy for my boys to clean up their mess (when I can get them to clean up that is).  I have also added Brecken's little handprints to one of the canvas' on the wall.  Luckily, there are 2 more canvas' so down the road, I will be able to add the twins' handprints.

Hopefully I will have more to blog this week.

What Would You Wish For?

Matthew came home from Kindergarten yesterday and told us what his teacher taught him about leprechaun's - here is Matthew & Gavin's short, but funny, conversation:

Matthew - Mom, my teacher told me that if you catch a leprechaun you get to wish for anything you want.
Gavin - Even pickles?
Matthew - Yep, even gold!

Gotta love little kids!  In the picture of Gavin, he has "double" hats on - he thought that would be funny!

Me, I would wish that it was June 12, the twins had just been born (that day - which would make them 38 weeks), and they were healthy!  I am not a good pregnant person - but I am very happy to be getting TWO babies!

I thought it was Spring?

Gotta love spring in Utah!  One day it is in the 50s and the boys are playing outside and then the next day a blizzard hits (okay - not really a blizzard but I couldn't see the houses behind me for a couple of hours yesterday from all the snow).  So I spent this morning finding warm coats, gloves, and snow boots so that when Dallin & Matthew walked to the bus stop, they wouldn't freeze - it was only in the teens when I sent them off (in pictures above).  If I wasn't so exhausted, I would have driven them but it is so much work to put the 2 little ones in the car.  Hopefully the nice weather will come back soon so the boys can run and play in the backyard!

Matthew & Dallin Play Basketball (again & no end in sight)

So, yes, I post a lot of pictures (pages) about sports and lately just basketball (the snow was finally gone until it snowed again last night - which means it is almost time for soccer).  But, that is my life and it is fun.  It is really fun just to see how much they have learned and how much they have improved.  Dallin is really liking basketball - and with as tall as he is, that is a good thing.  And Matthew is loving it too (even though there is no kicking like in soccer).  Last week was the end of the last 7 week session for them at The Factory.  Luckily (for me), we had this week off before the next session starts next week.  But the chairs at basketball aren't too bad and I have a babysitter that watches Gavin & Brecken for me so I can just sit and not worry about the little ones - and get to enjoy watching Dallin & Matthew play ball!

Gavin's 1st Day of Itty Bitty Ball

Gavin was sooooo excited that HE got to go to Itty Bitty Ball yesterday (he hasn't gotten to do much of anything with me not feeling so good).  He was smiling and happy the whole time.  When it was over, I asked him what his favorite part was and he said,

"I LOVED all of it!"

I am glad he really liked it because it was hard for me to sit on the bleachers for an hour.  But to see his smile and listen to him talk about it - I can figure out how to survive (only 5 more times).  Yesterday was baseball - they play a different sport each time (it is at our community center and is for 3 and 4 year olds).  I will show more pictures when it is over and I make a scrapbook page (or two).
